Tag Heuer Re-release: TAG Heuer Precious Silverstone Watch

 According to what Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer revealed, it will retail for about $6,500.

 
Admired and claimed by Heuer fans and watch fans alike, the TAG Heuer Silverstone Wristwatch is getting re-released this month, February 2010, in a limited edition of 1,500 models of each color. The new Silverstones will be released in brown or blue versions, with perforated alligator straps and an updated Caliber 11 movement with a Dubois-Depraz module.

TAG Heuer Silverstone Wristwatch was first introduced in 1974 so as a way of emulating the curvature of the famous English racing track, with a design inspired by the distinctive square case of its predecessor, well known TAG Heuer Monaco Watch. Back in ’74, the Silverstone timepiece featured the Chronomatic Calibre 11, the first automatic self-winding chronograph ever made.

For its re-issue, Silverstone is now powered by an updated version of the Calibre 11 with Dubois-Depraz module. In order to celebrate TAG Heuer's history, it houses the brand's original Heuer logo, which is flanked on the dial by two silver counters at 3 and 9 o'clock. Stainless steel pushbuttons at 2 and 4 o'clock, a hand-applied date window at 6 o'clock and curved, sapphire crystal with double anti-reflective treatment complete the watch's look.

NEW TAG Heuer Monaco LS Calibre 12 Automatic Chronograph

Tag Heuer celebrates the 40th birthday of the original Tag Heuer Monaco. At the BaselWorld 2009 Tag Heuer already unveiled several new Tag Heuer Monaco wrist watches. TAG Heuer has now presented the new Tag Heuer Monaco LS.

When Steve McQueen was driving His Porsche 917, he was wearing his TAG Heuer Monaco Wristwatch. The timepieces producing company is now unveiling the new version of what became an icon a few decades ago: the Monaco LS Chronograph Calibre 12.

According to its movement, the new Monaco LS features a TAG Heuer Calibre 12 Automatic Chronograph based on a Dubois Depraz 2008 where the chronograph minutes are displayed at 9 o'clock and the chronograph hours markers are displayed at 6 o'clock. It also has the date indicator at 12 o'clock.

About its dial: it is a black one with technical fine brushed bridges inspired by the MONACO Calibre 360 concept which featured a faceted chronograph, polished and fine-brushed minute and hour hands with luminescent markers. It also features hand-applied and faceted indexes with luminescent markers and a rhodium second hand with a touch of red.

Its case: with a diameter of 40.5 mm inspired by the V4 case design, it features a curved sapphire crystal glass polished and fine brushed stainless steel case and push-buttons. It is water resistant up to 100 meters.

Limited edition of just 150 watches the Monaco V4. It is the only Tag Heuer watch made from platinum (170 grams of it), fact that gives to it its modern style.

The Monaco V4 changes inspired from car engines. Like mechanical watches, it engines has the same concepts: transmission, friction, torque and power. But, the Tag Heuer First uses a 4.25-gram platinum ingot which acts as a sort of cylinder, in a linear movement. Then, changes the transmission of power from the traditional wheels to a drive-belt transmission: 13 belts with a gauge measure of 0.5 x 0.45mm.

The Monaco V4 uses 2.2mm diameter bearings with 0.25mm balls rotating inside, rather than synthetic rubies to reduce friction acting as energy generators with bridges made of transparent sapphire.

The Monaco V4 wristwatch was presented at Baselworld in 2004. Then, in 2007, a production ready piece was shown. 2009 was the year in which the Monaco V4 watch version was finally presented.

According to Steve McQueen’s, his 1929 Scott Super Squirrel Bike, the one he owned together with Von Dutch, was sold in $276.000. Not only his bike was sold, but also his personal wristwatch, his TAG Heuer Monaco. The timepiece was sold for $87.000 together with other important wristwatches like The Pour Le Merite Tourbillon 18K yellow gold, which was sol for $156.000.

The auction was such a great success that Antiquorum is getting ready for the next auction, taking place in Hong Kong, next June 27th.

Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer has announced a special, limited edition Monaco Chronograph. The NEW Monaco1969 Original Re-Edition will count with just 1,000 pieces. It is launched in order to celebrate TAG Heuer Monaco’s 40 years of precision, immortalized by actor Steve McQueen in the film "Le Mans". The blue-dial Monaco Re-Edition comes with an exclusive case back signed by Jack Heuer and engraved in honor of its mythical ambassador Steve McQueen. Each of the 1,000 TAG Heuer Monaco 1969 Original Re-Edition Chronographs features a perforated leather strap with a steel buckle. The blue dial features sporty red accents on its hands, its distinctive horizontal diamond-tipped hour indices and also a hand-applied date window in polished steel. The NEW Tag Heuer Monaco Concept 24 Chronograph, one of the Baselworld 2009 innovations. It features the blue and orange Gulf sign, which was the mythic Steve McQueens team.

The Monaco Concept 24 Chronograph is the latest groundbreaking. It is based on the mythic Monaco. The watch features an incredible high-tech unique tubular design which, together with extreme shock-protecting components, were both inspired by Le Mans endurance race cars. The TAG Heuer Calibre 36 movement inside the oversized (40.5mm) black PVD-coated case is suspended within a steel-tube housing very much like a race car’s driver’s protective cockpit cage and visible through the dial face and the sapphire crystal caseback.

TAG Heuer has chosen Leonardo DiCaprio as the new face of the TAG Heuer Carrera watch. Even though for the last six years Tag Heuer ambassador was Brad Pitt, his contract ended on December 2008.

Leonardo DiCaprio has signed on as a TAG Heuer Ambassador for three years.
