Panerai celebrated on 2009 being for the fifth time the sponsor of the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge, an event that not only includes regattas in the Mediterranean, but also in the Caribbean and the Atlantic ocean in which, ninety percent of the vessels are wooden boats. 2009 season saw 350 classic yachts in all, requiring 1.500 crewmembers.
Not another brand would be as appropriate as Panerai as the brand stands on class and savoir pillars, as the luxurious watchmaking brad it is.
In order to commemorate de sponsorship of the Classic Yacht Challenge, Panerai each year crafts a limited edition of mechanical timepieces. In 2009, Luminor 1950 Regatta Rattrapante 44 mm in DLC steel, a C.OS.C. rated chronometer was the star of the sponsorship.
